To set up your local network and connect kitchen hardware along with POS registers, obtain a Wi-Fi router.
Wi-Fi router connects your POS hardware to the Internet, allowing it to send their orders to the Poster management console. Also Wi-Fi routers are required to maintain connection between POS hardware, like tablet, smartphone or laptop and printer or other POS register.
Based on our tests, we recommend the following routers:
-
Keenetic Extra KN-1711
-
Asus RT-AC52U B1
-
Linksys EA6100.
Before purchasing a router, it’s important to pay attention to its characteristics, like interface, number of LAN ports, signal frequency, signal strength, and number of SSID allowed at the same time.
Interface:
Ethernet ports for connecting hardware to the local network. Make sure your router has a suitable number of ports to accommodate all the devices you need to connect.
USB 2.0:
Some routers come with a USB 2.0 port that allows you to connect modems with 3G/4G support. This can be useful if the Internet connection in your location went down, or if connecting via a broadband cable is not possible.
Wi-Fi:
-
Look for routers with a minimum speed of 300 Mbit/s for optimal wireless performance.
-
Check for routers with at least two antennas with a signal strength of 5 dBi.
-
Ensure that the router operates on the 2.4 GHz frequency.
-
Look for routers that support multiple SSIDs, as this feature allows you to set up additional guest Wi-Fi networks.
-
Some routers also have the capability to limit the maximum internet speed for the guest network.
If you have more devices in your location than there are LAN ports on the router, you can use a network switch to expand the number of available ports.
